Al-Mutaffifin

Woe to those who give less [than due],

ہلاکت ہے کمی کرنے والوں کے لیے۔

Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

وہ لوگ کہ جب دوسروں سے ناپ کرلیتے ہیں تو پورا لیتے ہیں۔

But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

اور جب خود انہیں ناپ کر یا تول کردیتے ہیں تو کمی کردیتے ہیں۔

Do they not think that they will be resurrected

کیا ان کو یہ گمان نہیں کہ وہ دوبارہ اٹھائے جانے والے ہیں۔

For a tremendous Day -

ایک بڑے دن کے لیے۔

The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

جس دن کہ لوگ کھڑے ہوں گے تمام جہانوں کے رب کے سامنے۔

No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

ہرگز نہیں ! یقینا گناہگاروں کے اعمال نامے سجین میں ہوں گے۔

And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

اور تم نے کیا سمجھا کہ سجین کیا ہے ؟

It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.

لکھا ہوا دفتر۔

Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

تباہی اور ہلاکت ہے اس دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لیے۔

Who deny the Day of Recompense.

جو جھٹلا رہے ہیں جزا و سزا کے دن کو۔

And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

اور نہیں جھٹلاتا اس دن کو مگر وہی کہ جو حد سے بڑھنے والا گناہگار ہے۔

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

جب اسے پڑھ کر سنائی جاتی ہیں ہماری آیات تو کہتا ہے کہ یہ تو پہلے لوگوں کی کہانیاں ہیں۔

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

نہیں ! بلکہ (اصل صورت حال یہ ہے کہ) ان کے دلوں پر زنگ آگیا ہے ان کے اعمال کی وجہ سے۔

No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.

نہیں ! یقینایہ لوگ اس دن اپنے رب سے اوٹ میں رکھے جائیں گے۔

Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

پھر انہیں جھونک دیا جائے گا جہنم میں۔

Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

پھر ان سے کہا جائے گا : یہ ہے وہ چیز جس کی تم تکذیب کیا کرتے تھے !

No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in ʿilliyyūn.

نہیں ! یقینا نیکوکاروں کے کتاب یا اعمال نامے علیین میں ہوں گے۔

And what can make you know what is ʿilliyyūn?

اور تمہیں کچھ اندازہ ہے وہ علیون کیا ہے ؟

It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed

لکھا ہوا دفتر۔

Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh].

وہاں موجود ہوں گے ملائکہ مقربین۔

Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

یقینا نیکوکار نعمتوں میں ہوں گے۔

On adorned couches, observing.

وہ تختوں پر بیٹھے (مناظر ِجنت) دیکھ رہے ہوں گے۔

You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

تم دیکھو گے ان کے چہروں پر تروتازگی کی علامات۔

They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.

انہیں پلائی جائے گی خالص شراب جس پر مہر لگی ہوگی۔

The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

اس کی مہر ہوگی مشک کی۔ اس چیز کے لیے سبقت لے جانے کی کوشش کریں سبقت لے جانے والے۔

And its mixture is of Tasneem,

اور اس کی ملونی ہوگی تسنیم سے۔

A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drink.

یہ ایک چشمہ ہے جس پر جام نوشی کریں گے مقربین بارگاہ۔

Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

یقینا جو مجرم تھے وہ اہل ِ ایمان پر ہنسا کرتے تھے۔

And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

اور جب یہ ان کے قریب سے گزرتے تھے تو آپس میں آنکھیں مارتے تھے۔

And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

اور جب وہ اپنے گھر والوں کی طرف لوٹتے تھے تو باتیں بناتے ہوئے لوٹتے تھے۔

And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

اور جب وہ ان (اہل ایمان) کو دیکھتے تھے تو کہتے تھے کہ یقینا یہ بہکے ہوئے لوگ ہیں۔

But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

جب کہ انہیں نہیں بھیجا گیا تھا ان پر نگران بنا کر۔

So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

تو آج (قیامت) کے دن اہل ایمان ان کفار پر ہنس رہے ہیں۔

On adorned couches, observing.

وہ تختوں پر بیٹھے (ان کا حشر) دیکھ رہے ہیں۔

Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?

بدلہ مل گیا نا کافروں کو اس کا جو کچھ وہ کیا کرتے تھے !
