Al-Jumu'ah

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allāh, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

تسبیح کرتی ہے اللہ کی ہر وہ چیز جو آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو زمین میں ہے جو بادشاہ ہے (ہر عیب سے) پاک ہے بہت زبردست ہے بہت حکمت والا ہے۔

It is He who has sent among the unlettered [Arabs] a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and wisdom [i.e., the sunnah] - although they were before in clear error -

وہی تو ہے جس نے اٹھایا امیین میں ایک رسول ان ہی میں سے جو ان کو پڑھ کر سناتا ہے اس کی آیات اور ان کا تزکیہ کرتا ہے اور انہیں تعلیم دیتا ہے کتاب و حکمت کی۔ اور یقینا اس سے پہلے تو وہ کھلی گمراہی میں تھے۔

And [to] others of them who have not yet joined them. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

اور ان ہی میں سے ان دوسرے لوگوں میں بھی جو ابھی ان میں شامل نہیں ہوئے۔ اور وہ بہت زبردست ہے کمال حکمت والا ہے۔

That is the bounty of Allāh, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

یہ اللہ کا فضل ہے وہ دیتا ہے جسے چاہتا ہے۔ اور اللہ بڑے فضل والا ہے۔

The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on is like that of a donkey who carries volumes [of books]. Wretched is the example of the people who deny the signs of Allāh. And Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.

مثال ان لوگوں کی جو حامل تورات بنائے گئے پھر وہ اس کے حامل ثابت نہ ہوئے اس گدھے کی سی (مثال) ہے جو اٹھائے ہوئے ہو کتابوں کا بوجھ۔ بہت بری مثال ہے اس قوم کی جنہوں نے اللہ کی آیات کو جھٹلایا۔ اور اللہ ایسے ظالموں کو (زبردستی) ہدایت نہیں دیتا۔

Say, "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are allies of Allāh, excluding the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful."

(اے نبی ﷺ !) آپ کہہ دیجیے کہ اے وہ لوگو جو یہودی ہوگئے ہو اگر تمہیں واقعی یہ گمان ہے کہ بس تم ہی اللہ کے دوست ہو باقی سب لوگوں کو چھوڑ کر تو تم موت کی تمنا کرو اگر تم واقعی سچے ہو۔

But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allāh is Knowing of the wrongdoers.

اور (حقیقت یہ ہے کہ) یہ لوگ ہرگز کبھی موت کی تمنا نہیں کریں گے اپنے ان اعمال کے سبب جو ان کے ہاتھ آگے بھیج چکے ہیں۔ اور اللہ ان ظالموں سے خوب واقف ہے۔

Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do."

(اے نبی ﷺ !) آپ کہہ دیجیے کہ وہ موت جس سے تم بھاگتے ہو وہ تم سے ملاقات کر کے رہے گی پھر تمہیں لوٹا دیا جائے گا اس ہستی کی طرف جو پوشیدہ اور ظاہر سب کا جاننے والا ہے پھر وہ تمہیں جتلا دے گا جو کچھ تم کرتے رہے تھے۔

O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

اے ایمان والو ! جب تمہیں پکارا جائے نماز کے لیے جمعہ کے دن تو دوڑو اللہ کے ذکر کی طرف اور کاروبار چھوڑ دو۔ یہی تمہارے لیے بہتر ہے اگر تم علم رکھتے ہو۔

And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allāh, and remember Allāh often that you may succeed.

پھر جب نماز پوری ہوچکے تو زمین میں منتشر ہو جائو اور اللہ کا فضل تلاش کرو اور اللہ کو یاد کرو کثرت سے تاکہ تم فلاح پائو۔

But [on one occasion] when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muḥammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allāh is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allāh is the best of providers."

اور جب انہوں نے دیکھا تجارت کا معاملہ یا کوئی کھیل تماشا تو اس کی طرف چل دیے اور آپ ﷺ کو کھڑا چھوڑ دیا۔ (اے نبی ﷺ !) آپ کہہ دیجیے کہ جو کچھ اللہ کے پاس ہے وہ کہیں بہتر ہے کھیل کود اور تجارت سے۔ اور اللہ بہترین رزق عطا کرنے والا ہے۔
